On 17 February 2019, AIT Day Myanmar was held in Yangon Technical University. About 230 prospective students attended the event excluding parents and alumni. The event was supported by AITAA-Myanmar chapter.

Mr. Tin Aung Moe, President of AITAA Myanmar Chapter welcomed everyone and invited AIT delegates to present about AIT and different schools.

Prof.Rajendra P. Shrestha, Dr. Chutiporn and Ms. Thanisa interacted and presented AIT/SERD, SET, and Language center respectively to the enthusiastic prospective students present.

A total of 66 students appeared for the AIT English Test conducted in the venue and a total of 60 prospective students paid the application fees during registration to apply to AIT.

On 18 February 2019, Prof. Rajendra Shrestha met with Prof. Nang Hseng Hom, Rector and few other senior officers of Yezin Agricultural University (YAU), Myanmar to introduce AIT programs and available opportunity to Myanmar students. YAU is the only agricultural university offering agricultural education in Myanmar with advanced research facility and strong outreach activities. A workshop was also conducted at YAU participated by many stakeholders to prepare background information for a proposal on sustainable agricultural intensification and climate change.

Prof. Rajendra P. Shrestha and Dr Nophea Sasaki met Dr An Pich Hatda, an AIT alumnus, who has recently appointed as CEO of Mekong River Commission (MRC), a treaty based organization of Lower Mekong Basin Countries to discuss potential collaboration between The discussion included the possibility of providing AIT technical consultation support to MRC activities, co-hosting of events, and housing MRC knowledgebase at AIT library, promoting each other’s programs and internship possibility for AIT students at MRC. Having an MOU between two organizations was also discussed.

Prof. Rajendra P. Shrestha met Dr. Phout Simmalavong (Vice President – Academic) and few other senior officers of National University of Laos (NUOL) to introduce AIT programs and available opportunity to Laotian students. NUOL has a high priority on human resource development, curriculum and research development, and student/faculty mobility. A workshop was also conducted at YAU participated in many stakeholders to prepare background information for a proposal on sustainable agricultural intensification and climate change.
