On Nov 30, 2021, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) jointly organized a regional consultation workshop on the “Study of Carbon and Energy Balance of Different Sustainable Crop Residue Management in Asia” project from 9.00-12.00hrs through Zoom.

The workshop was hosted by Prof. Rajendra P. Shrestha, Dr. Ekbordin Winijkul and Dr. Lai Nguyen Huy from the School of Environment, Resources and Development, AIT. Mr. Yuji Niino, Land Management Officer was invited for providing opening and closing remarks for the workshop. The consultation workshop was joined by the experts from China, India, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand and Cambodia.

AIT has conducted a comprehensive study on crop residue management including future scenarios, and the objectives of the workshop were to get the inputs from the national experts on the study besides sharing current residue management practices in various Asian countries.
