Dr Krishna R. Salin, Associate Professor and Chair of the Aquaculture and Aquatic Resources Management Academic Program of AIT_SERD has been elected as the President-elect of the World Aquaculture Society Asian Pacific Chapter, WAS-APC (https://www.was-apc.org/), based on a global ballot. WAS (www.was.org) is the world’s biggest professional body in aquaculture with its headquarters in the USA and is a dynamic organization serving the global aquaculture community as a neutral platform for facilitating research and business networks, communication, collaboration, and information exchange. WAS is managed by a Board of globally elected officers from among its members

Dr. Salin’s commitment to the Society is a three-year term as the President-elect in 2022, President in 2023, and serving as Past-President in 2024. Dr. Salin had also been serving WAS-APC as its Director since 2019. The details can be seen at https://www.was-apc.org/?p=3375.

The Annual Board Meeting of WAS-APC was held virtually on 25 November 2021 and the new Board also took charge. The Society could not organize any of its physical conferences for almost two years and is now looking forward to 2022 with several events planned, including the World Aquaculture 2022 Conference in Singapore.
