On 20 April 2019, NRM organized the Biodiversity Hackathon at SERD building to brainstorm how biodiversity can be conserved and local livelihoods can be improved in the context of UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, the UN’s Convention on Biological Diversity, the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit Sharing, and the New York Declaration on Forests using technovation and impact investment markets. 

Seven teams with 16 students from SERD and SET joined the event and seven conservation business ideas and technology platforms were proposed. Three winning teams were selected by 3 judges who are the expert in the fields. Judges were Ms.  Ladaporn Khunikakorn from South Pole, Dr. Takuji W. Tsusaka from NRM, and Dr. Nophea Sasaki from NRM.

 The event was closed by a Closing Remarks by  SERD Dean, Prof. Rajendra P. Shrestha. The event was coordinated by Manjunatha Venkatappa (NRM) and Agnes T. Pardilla (DS secretary).
